Kareena’s Geet Back On Screen With Ek Main Aurr Ek Tu

Mumbai: Certain actors are remembered for certain roles. These roles become synonymous with the identity of the actor, and the audience likes remembering them that way. That one role is the one which gives a completely new direction to the career of that actor. It was the role of Rahul in “Dilwale Dulhaniye Le Jayenge” for Shahrukh Khan, the role of the angry young man for Amithabh Bachan in the film Zanjeer. ForKareena Kapoor it was the role of Geet, in the Imitiaz Ali directed Jab We Met.
Kareena Kapooer had done good films earlier as well such as Refugee, Chameli which had earned her a lot of adoration and appreciation. But Geet made her the darling of the entire nation in no time at all.
The sweetness, the vivacity that she exuded through this character of hers is beyond description. The childishness, innocence, the gleam in her eyes was something that we had never seen before. Even after four years , and a large number of films such as We are Family, Ra.One, Main Aur Mrs. Khanna, Bodyguard, Kambakkht Ishq, 3 Idiots, Kurbaan, Golmaal 3, Geet is still remembered. Although these films were equally good and her acting too was applauded, the audience is missing her Geet act for quite some time now.
But with Karan Johar’s next film “Ek Main Aurr Ek Tu” starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor we are gain set for a roller coaster ride. With the release of this film in February 2012, Karan Johar promises that we would be able to see Geet all over again a in a new avatar though.
In this film she plays the role of Raina Braganza. She is a hairstylist who is quick witted and has a really good sense of humor. In the film she meets a very serious kind of a architect played by Imran Khan and they somehow get married to each other in a situation when both of them are in a drunken stupor.
Well one must not expect the literal re-incarnation of Geet in this movie, that would be too much to ask for and might also end up being boring in the end. According to Karan Johar, Geet and Raina are very different in the way that they were brought up. Geet was a girl hailing from Punjab, brought up in a joint family of Punhjab. On the other hand Raina has a very different cultural background; she is a Catholic girl from Mumbai who works in Las Vegas for a living.
However both of them are really impulsive, very naïve, sweet, bubbly ,happy go lucky girls, with a sense of differentiating between the right and wrong situated somewhere deep within. This is the parallel that Karan Johar draws.
Whereas the director,  Shakun Batra tells a different tale altogether. According to him, Geet has become an epitome of being bubbly, but he has tried to avoid working on the same limes.
Even Kareena says that she has been doing desi films all this while and it’s high time that she changes her image, and does something different. But we are stilling hope to see the magic all over again be it as Geet or Raina.
